Crafted in North Carolina

Crown Forged is a North Carolina–based artisan studio founded in 2019. I created it as a space to explore artistic expression through precious metals, gemstones, and hand engraving. Each piece is crafted by hand in my studio, blending precision fabrication, stone cutting, and meticulous setting — with the goal of creating jewelry and engravings that spark conversation and carry meaning.

An Artisan’s Introduction,

Jeff Smith

Some of the first steps on my ongoing journey.

My journey began in Ohio, where I left home in 2006 to pursue Art at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. There I discovered metalsmithing and quickly became fascinated with working in precious metals and gemstones. Under the guidance of professors Cappy Counard and Sue Amendolara, I built a strong foundation in design and craftsmanship that continues to shape my work today.

My Apprenticeship

After graduating, I apprenticed as a polisher before advancing to jeweler. Over 10 years, I honed my skills in stone setting and jewelry craftsmanship, steadily growing into the artisan I am today.

Learning Hand Engraving and Stone Cutting

In 2019, I began teaching myself hand engraving, a challenge that became one of my greatest joys. In 2022, I added gemstone cutting to my craft, studying under my friend and mentor Ryan Quantz. Together, these skills allow me to create work that balances precision with artistry.

The Path Ahead

As Crown Forged grows, I remain committed to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship. My goal is to expand the studio’s offerings while staying true to the artistry of goldsmithing, hand engraving, and stone cutting, . Thank you for joining me on this journey — your support fuels the work I love.
